📝 Spotter's notes

Engine focus: Garrett ATF3 (US military designation F104) is a three-spool turbofan engine, seen here on a former US Coast Guard Dassault HU-25. The fascination is due to its rare design that routed hot exhaust gases in a reverse flow and then out ducts placed around the periphery of the bypass flow. The meant that all engine accessories had to be housed in the aft cone, that also exhibits the radial pattern of the exhaust burn streaks.
